Yesterday was the Bridport Poetry prize event. It was a beautiful sunny day. This year's competition was judged by Jackie Kay, and the short story competition judged by Ali Smith. It was a lovely event and a seriously good lunch! It was good to meet with the other prize winners and hear them read some of their work.
I was struck by the generosity and enthusiasm of both the judges, who seemed to have genuinely enjoyed reading and engaging with the poems and short stories. I came home clutching my copy of the anthology and am enjoying reading through it. Shameless plug: copies available from Amazon or the Bridport website. Travelling down to Bridport gave me the opportunity to see my friend Jacob and his lovely family in Bristol. It was lovely to see him.
